I joined The Japan Exchange and Teaching Program...
...in the summer of 2011. It was the same year that The Great Tohoku Earthquake occurred, so admissions and communication was delayed. The anxiety of waiting for JET placements was prolonged unlike any other year. My placement results came less than a month before departure!
I was placed in a relatively large city and convenient area in Mie Prefecture where I had access to just about everything! During my first year on the program, my base was a technical high school, and I also visited another technical school and a regular high school. I had a busy full time schedule with various classes which I planned. When my second year approached, my base was relocated to an academic high school, and I visited my old base as a side school. My schedule was more relaxed, but I still kept myself busy. In 2013, I made up my mind that two years in Japan was enough, and it was time to return to my home in Texas! Reasons Why I Joined JET:
