The weird and the funny. Why are you doing that in the office?
Teacher desks are in shared offices instead of classrooms, so it's easy to know your neighbor's business. On this page I’d like to point out a few things I noticed about what goes on in the office.
#2: Is that... SNORING?
During down time and often during student summer vacation, I could hear snoring in the shared offices. Some teachers would sleep at their desk, and some would sleep in a lounge area.
I noticed that tired female teachers would either rest their heads on their desks or lay in the lounge. I’ve never been in the male lounge area, so I don’t know about what goes on there, but I’ve had to sit through a few office periods where I had to listen to the rhythmic snoring of old men. #4: Did I hear bamboo fall, or are you cutting your fingernails again?
Many men, for some reason, choose to clip their fingernails during school hours at their desks. Sometimes one man would do it, then it reminds another that he hadn’t for a while, causing a domino effect.
#6: Oral Hygiene.
Taking care of your teeth is good, right? Female teachers usually brush their teeth in the restroom area after lunch. Male teachers, on the other hand, don’t mind doing this at their desk and office sink.
That’s fine. But the gurgling is what the commotion is all about. It’s like a mouthwash commercial in 3-D with surround sound sometimes. |
#1: Keep it to yourself.
Some of them talk to themselves.
...I can hear you. Especially the exclamations you make every time you realize something. #3: Phones.
Sometimes teachers aren’t at their desk, but their phones aren’t on vibrate and the ringtones go off. This and snoring makes quite a combination.
Phone conversations are public. Everyone knows what you’re talking about and which parent you’re talking to about which child. #5: Office Hours.
